#1 - Fistral Beach

Newquays most famous beach hosts many international and national surfing championships including the Rip Curl Boardmasters! It is also home to The Cribbar, a reef situated beneath the headland north of Fistral. The Cribbar only breaks on the biggest swells. Its considered Cornwall's premier big wave with ridden waves having up to 40ft faces! Experience is definitely essential for this one! The facilities offered by Fistral are very good with a surf museum, surf shops and plenty of boards and wetsuits available to hire for the day.

#2 - Lappa Valley Steam Railway

This little gem has been going since 1849 when it was first opened as a mineral line from Newquay to East Wheal Rose. Running on one of the oldest railway trackbeds in Cornwall you can chug your way along a 2mile return journey through a beautiful cornish valley to a small leisure park at East Wheal Rose. There you will find activities and attractions ranging from crazy golf to slides and swings. There is also an idyllic boating lake where you can splash around in canoes and pedalos!

With over 130 different species set in their lush sub-tropical gardens Newquay Zoo is a day out everyone can enjoy! The attraction offers plenty to see and do with lions, zebras, monkeys plus plenty more, an amazing open rainforest exhibit and beautiful oriental gardens. The kids can run wild in the Tarzan Trail and Dragon Maze or chill out at animal encounters. For those gorgeous sunny days theres even a BBQ to tuck into!

One of the UK's leading Aquariums, their aim is to inspire a deeper understanding and love for the natural world. A gigantic ocean display complete with underwater tunnel stands at the heart of Blue Reef where you'll come face to face with a variety of colourful fish or for something a little more heart stopping take a look at the tropical shark lagoon featuring graceful stingrays and bizarre zebra sharks amongst other exotic fish!
